Programs and Special Events

English Festival Review. Mon. April 4 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Discuss and review the seven English Festival books chosen this year in the Community Room. For grades 7 - 9. This year's festival runs from April 6 through April 8 at Youngstown State University. Refreshments will be served.

Book Discussion Group. Wed. April 6 at 6:30 pm. This month's title is Trespass by Valerie Martin. To join or for more information, call Colleen Keller at ext. 11. 

National Library Week. April 10 - 16. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. Libraries are places of new beginnings. Whether you are getting your first library card, learning new computer skills or planning a trip, the library is the place where your story begins. This National Library Week, join our nation's libraries and librarians and "Create Your Own Story @ Your Library."

You can now check out Ebooks and Audiobooks for free by following the link on our homepage to the Ohio Ebook Program. Click on the links to find out what devises are compatible and what the policies are. These ebooks are made available to the libraries that have joined the Ohio Ebook Project through the Overdrive company. The Overdrive website has many Help pages and demo video showing how to checkout and download ebooks and audiobooks.

 

Children's Programs and Special Events

Jelly Bean Count Contest. April 1 - 15. Children of all ages are welcome to come to the library and guess how many jelly beans are in the jar. Call or stop in to ask for details at the Circulation Desk. This is a Friends sponsored program. Prizes will be awarded to the participant with the closest guess. Happy counting!

Crafts & Games. April 14 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. An extra special Craft Corner during National Library Week! For ages 6 - 12. Refreshments will be served!

"Craft Corner". Thursdays at 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Children up to age 12 are welcome to attend this after school event. You will make a variety of crafts each week to take home and enjoy. Come join in the fun. 

 "Needle's Eye Sewing Club" . 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Sewing on buttons, embroidery and other small projects are just some of the things you will learn to do in this brand new after-school activity. It will take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month . School age children up to 12 are invited, while younger children may participate as long as an adult is present. Registration is absolutely necessary!

 

Story Times:

  • Family Time -  Mondays at 6:30 pm. All Ages

  • Story Time - Wednesdays at 10:30 am. Ages 3-6

  • Toddler Time Thursdays at 10:30 am. 2 year olds accompanied by an adult

  • Baby Time - 1st & 3rd Fridays at 11 am.
